Water Lilies (2007)
Had this one bolded on my watch list for a few months and fell in love once I finally got around to watching it. It mostly follows two girls, Floriane and Marie, and the emotional torment that comes with female homoerotic friendships. Meanwhile, Marie's friend, Anne, goes through awkward pining for Francois, Floriane's sort-of boyfriend. At age thirteen I went through a similar experience as Marie, so this film really resonated with me. Another thing I love about this film is the awkwardness of it. Marie and Anne are properly written as girls who have no experience with relationships. When they encounter their respective romantic prospects, they aren't portrayed as automatically knowing how to do things like flirt or react in certain social settings. It has a similar feeling to Breillat's Fat Girl, but is much better in my opinion.
